The EWC course is structured to give the students an overview of what writing is about and the purpose for developing good writing skills.
Elements of different genres of writing including narrative, descriptive and persuasive will be taught, using materials drawn from individual’s own work and selected texts, article and handouts.
Students will engage in extensive writing exercises during classroom hours. They will be expected to deliver written assignments every week based on topics given by the instructing teachers. These exercises will be accordingly evaluated based on certain core criteria.
While the primary focus is on improving writing skills; students will also be exposed to the other 3 skills, namely, reading, listening and speaking. This is to enable them identify and understand the link between good effective writing and the components of reading, listening and speaking.
